May 5 - Being Transformed (Acts 9:1-22)

First listen to the sermon (posts Sun. afternoon). Then use the ideas below to help you and your group apply what the Lord is teaching you.

Icebreaker idea: What's one thing in your life you'd love to see God change right now?

A way to pray: Pray for what was shared in the icebreaker. Pray, too, that God would transform us to reflect Him more clearly to those around us, as we seek to see 2,000 people by 2022 baptized and growing in relationship with Jesus through the Word, prayer, and community.

Talk It Over:

  • Treasuring God: How has God's transforming power changed me personally? How does this help me treasure Him more?

  • Being Transformed: How does the idea that we “are being transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory” (2 Cor. 3:18) encourage me to live differently?

  • Loving Others: What beliefs/attitudes keep me from loving people outside the church? How, specifically, am I asking God to transform me in these areas?

  • Pursuing Unity: How does knowing that every Christ-follower is a “work in progress” help me move toward greater empathy and harmony?

Apr. 28 - Treasuring God (Ps. 115:1-11)

First listen to the sermon (posts Sun. afternoon). Then use the ideas below to help you and your group apply what the Lord is teaching you.

Icebreaker idea: What are "a few of my favorite things" (e.g. people, places, possessions)? Why are these so special to me?

A way to pray: Pray for one another to have clarity in identifying what we tend to idolize, and to keep those things in their proper place. Ask the Lord that as we grow in keeping him at the center of our lives, He would use this to draw people to Himself, as we seek to see 2,000 people by 2022 baptized and growing in relationship with Jesus through the Word, prayer, and community.

Talk It Over:

  • Treasuring God: In what ways do I treasure idols (such as power, control, approval, comfort)? How will my life look different when God is my first love?

  • Being Transformed: When am I tempted to give glory to humans (family, leaders, celebrities)? What needs to change for me to give glory to God alone?

  • Loving Others: Where does my life show a lack of trust in God? How does this damage my ability to love others as He calls me to?

  • Pursuing Unity: Have I idolized people, methods, or traditions in the church? How can this damage unity as a body of believers?

Apr. 21 - Follow Me (Jn. 21:15-19)

First listen to the sermon (posts Sun. afternoon). Then use the ideas below to help you and your group apply what the Lord is teaching you.

Icebreaker idea: What makes someone a great leader – the kind of leader you'd gladly follow even if it leads through difficulty and hardship?

A way to pray: Pray for each other to follow Jesus with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Ask the Lord to use us to draw those in our lives to follow Him, too, as we seek to see 2,000 people by 2022 baptized and growing in relationship with Jesus through the Word, prayer, and community.

Talk It Over:

  • Treasuring God: What specifically did Jesus win for me through His crucifixion and resurrection? How does this make me adore God even more?

  • Being Transformed: In what areas of my life is Jesus calling me to follow Him more faithfully?

  • Loving Others: Who is God calling me to influence to follow Him? What role have prayer and sharing played in loving them so far? How can I grow in this?

  • Pursuing Unity: How does the death of death empower and motivate me to pursue unity with everyone – regardless of past difficulty or disagreement?

Apr. 14 - Resurrection Sign (Jn. 11:1-44)

First listen to the sermon (posts Sun. afternoon). Then use the ideas below to help you and your group apply what the Lord is teaching you.

Icebreaker idea: What's one way that the spring season brings new life, that you particularly enjoy?

A way to pray: Pray for the areas of our lives where we need Jesus to bring resurrection life. Also ask the Lord to give new life to those in our lives who don't yet know Him, as we seek to see 2,000 people by 2022 baptized and growing in relationship with Jesus through the Word, prayer, and community.

Talk It Over:

  • Treasuring God: Why did the cross make no sense to Jesus' followers? How does understanding the power of the cross help me cherish God more?

  • Being Transformed: What dead spots in my life need to be resurrected? What specific things do I need Jesus’ life-giving power to change?

  • Loving Others: Jesus was deeply moved by death’s grip on humanity. How can my life show the same depth of sorrow for the lost? What needs to change in me?

  • Pursuing Unity: In challenging relationships, how can a focus on Jesus’ claim to be the resurrection and the life energize me to seek peace and harmony?
