Here are some of the most commonly asked questions about giving.
-
God is generous…
“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich. ... The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.” – Paul in 2 Corinthians 8:9; 9:6-8
Christians reflect Christ...
Out of his infinite riches, Jesus Christ emptied himself out for us, so that we could be adopted into his family and share his inheritance. When God’s children are moved by that truth, they long to reflect God’s generosity to others through their words and actions.
Our heart and our treasure go together…
Jesus said “where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21). We naturally spend resources – things like time and energy – on whatever is important to us. And where we invest our resources, our hearts naturally tend to follow. So loving God and others actually goes hand-in-hand with generous, cheerful giving.

Giving treasure…
One of the ways we can be generous is by supporting the financial needs of our local church body, and one of the forms that can take is giving financially to support the church’s budgeted expenses such as staff, missions, utilities, etc. For more opportunities to be generous with your treasure / finances, check out the Organizations we support page.
Giving time and talents…
We can also be generous by sharing the skills, interests, and abilities God has given uniquely to each one of us. This could take the form of serving in the church, as well as serving in the community (see Organizations we support or brainstorm possibilities with your Grow Group). Of course, sharing our talents takes time, and in fact sometimes we can be generous with our time simply by being present for someone who needs us.

Questions about online giving? See next FAQ “How does online giving work?” for more.
We would also encourage you to consider giving financially to other Organizations we support.
Giving time and talents…
If you would like to know more about ways to be generous with your time and talents, consider serving in the church. You may also consider serving with one of the Organizations we support, and we encourage you to brainstorm more ideas for serving the community with your Grow Group.
