Apr. 7 - Judgment Sign (Jn. 9)

First listen to the sermon (posts Sun. afternoon). Then use the ideas below to help you and your group apply what the Lord is teaching you.

Icebreaker idea: Who comes to mind when you think of someone with good judgment? What is it about this person that makes you think of them this way?

A way to pray: Ask God to open eyes to who Jesus is, all over North Platte and our surrounding areas, as we seek to see 2,000 people by 2022 baptized and growing in relationship with Jesus through the Word, prayer, and community.

Talk It Over:

  • Treasuring God: What has God helped you see or realize that you'd never have recognized on your own?

  • Being Transformed: Where do you struggle to believe God? How would your life be different if you genuinely followed His judgment in that area?

  • Loving Others: In John 9, some hard-to-understand truths had to be clarified. How can I provide clarity to people I know with the grace and truth Jesus models?

  • Pursuing Unity: How do wrong motivations and limited perspective lead to disunity among believers? How can clarity from Jesus open the door to agreement?

Mar. 31 - Satisfaction Sign (Jn. 6)

First listen to the sermon (posts Sun. afternoon). Then use the ideas below to help you and your group apply what the Lord is teaching you.

Icebreaker idea: Share about a time when you've experienced a feeling of satisfaction or contentment (e.g. something related to a job well done or a need that was met).

A way to pray: Pray for one another to find satisfaction and contentment in Jesus this week and to be able to share that with others, as we seek to see 2,000 people by 2022 baptized and growing in relationship with Jesus through the Word, prayer, and community.

Talk It Over:

  • Treasuring God: Consider the apostle Paul’s radical contentment in Christ (see Phil. 4:11-13, Rom. 8:35-39). How could this level of satisfaction in God transform my life?

  • Being Transformed: What drives me to seek satisfaction wrongly? How could Jesus truly fulfill these desires instead?

  • Loving Others: Who in my life needs help finding satisfaction in Jesus in some area of their life? What tangible steps could I take this week to help them in this?

  • Pursuing Unity: How does seeing Jesus as my highest treasure and greatest source of satisfaction help me to forgive and live at peace with His followers?

Mar. 24 - Authority Sign (Jn. 5:1-15)

First listen to the sermon (posts Sun. afternoon). Then use the ideas below to help you and your group apply what the Lord is teaching you.

Icebreaker idea: What do you like to do to rest, refresh, and recharge?

A way to pray: Based on the discussion questions below regarding rest, healing, and making an end of sin, pray for one another and those in our lives who don't know Jesus, asking the Lord to use us to draw people to Himself as we seek to see 2,000 people by 2022 baptized and growing in relationship with Him through the Word, prayer, and community.

Talk It Over:

  • Treasuring God: In what areas am I in need of rest? How does God offer that rest? How does this tangibly show me how much He loves me?

  • Being Transformed: In John 5, Jesus healed the man and told him to stop sinning. How has He healed me? Where is He calling me to stop sinning?

  • Loving Others: How can I practically demonstrate the power of God's rest in my own life to others around me who don't know Jesus?

  • Pursuing Unity: In conflicts among Christ-followers, how does yielding to God's authority bring peace? How does His rest overcome our disagreements?

Mar. 17 - Power Sign (Jn. 4:46-54)

First listen to the sermon (posts Sun. afternoon). Then use the ideas below to help you and your group apply what the Lord is teaching you.

Icebreaker idea: If you could ask God for one miracle right now, what would it be?

A way to pray: Pray for the things shared in the icebreaker, asking God for His will in those situations and for the grace to want the Giver more than the gifts and to want His will more than our own. (Not that we want the gifts less but that we want Him even more.)

Talk It Over:

  • Treasuring God: When have I seen God's power at work to bring me a good gift? How can this help me cherish Him more than the gifts He gives me?

  • Being Transformed: How do my actions demonstrate that I have truly believed Jesus' words? In what ways can it be hard to trust Him?

  • Loving Others: Do I see people as a means to an end or do I truly love them? How can loving the Giver change the way I love others?

  • Pursuing Unity: In what practical ways does loving God (not just His gifts) grow our unity as believers? How does our unity grow our love for Him?
