Sep. 9 - Show up to Grow Up (Mt. 13:1-23)

First listen to the sermon (posts Sun. afternoon). Then use the ideas below to help you and your group apply what the Lord is teaching you.

Icebreaker idea: Introduce (or reintroduce) yourself to the group. What is something you enjoyed this summer?

A way to pray: Join us in praying that we'll be able to double involvement in Grow Groups this year, moving from about 30-40% of Sunday attendance connecting in groups to about 60-80%.

Talk It Over:

  • Treasuring God: What does each of the four soils seem to value most? How does this relate to what happens to the seeds?

  • Being Transformed: Why is understanding the gospel so important for growth? What's one way understanding the gospel has changed my life?

  • Loving Others: How can we show love to the different kinds of people represented by each of the four soils?

  • Pursuing Unity: What are some practical ways we can help each other and others both to hear and to understand the gospel?

Grow Group season break - Summer 2018

Another Grow Groups season has drawn to an end (groups resume 9/9!). During the break, here are some questions you can discuss with family/friends each week to continue growing in your relationships with Jesus Christ. If you'd like to base this discussion on the weekly sermons, you can find the audio for those here (updates each Sun. afternoon).

Icebreaker idea: What was one highlight of this past week for you?

A way to pray: Pray with us that by 2022, through God's grace and power, we will see 2000 people baptized and growing in relationship with Jesus through the Word, prayer, and community.

Talk It Over:

  • Treasuring God: What is God showing me about Himself that I really value?

  • Being Transformed: How is God calling me to be more like Jesus? What's my next step?

  • Loving Others: How have I experienced God's love recently? How can I share His love with someone this week?

  • Pursuing Unity: Where do I see the enemy working to cause division and discord? How does my relationship with Jesus help me pursue unity instead?

May 13 - Selfish Siblings (1 Cor. 8:1-13)
First listen to the sermon (posts Sun. afternoon). Then use the ideas below to help you and your group apply what the Lord is teaching you.

Icebreaker idea: Share about a time when someone you know did something selfless.

A way to pray: Pray for selflessness and unity in our church family. Ask the Father to make us the kind of family that is warm and welcoming for the 2,000 people we're seeking to lead into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ by 2022.

Talk It Over:

  • Treasuring God: What are some ways Jesus has shown Himself to be the true selfless sibling we need? (See also Phil. 2:1-11; Jn. 13:1-17; Mk. 10:42-45.)
  • Being Transformed: What is one way I have experienced being puffed up by "knowledge"? What would a love that builds up look like in that situation?
  • Loving Others: What might it look like practically to love others with an "I'll lose so you can win" attitude? What is one step I can take right now?
  • Pursuing Unity: What are some things 1 Corinthians 8 says will lead to division? What does it say will lead to unity? What is my next step?
