Blue Christmas: A Gathering of Hope

Wed. 12/21 Fri. 12/23, 7-8 p.m.
Auditorium

Christmas can be a complicated season as we try to make room for both joy and grief in our hearts. If you or someone you know is feeling particularly “blue” this year, we invite you to join us for our Blue Christmas gathering on the longest, darkest night of the year – Wednesday, December 21. (Please note: due to the weather, we have postponed to Friday, December 23, still from 7-8 p.m.) We’ll spend some time acknowledging the losses and sadness we’ve felt this year and also be reminded of the hope we can have because of Jesus, the Light of the World who shines into our darkness. If you need more information or would like to help serve that night, contact Jessica Stone (or email us).

Holiday Schedule

We’re making a few changes to our usual schedule over the holidays for special events and to give time for our church family, volunteers, and staff to rest and connect with their families:

  • Special events: Blue Christmas gathering Wed. 12/21 Fri. 12/23, 7-8 p.m.; Christmas Eve gatherings Sat. 12/24 at 3, 4:30, and 6 p.m. (unstaffed nursery with video livestream available both 12/21 and 12/24)

  • Sunday gatherings: No large gatherings on Christmas, Sun. 12/25; no 8 a.m. gathering on New Year’s Day, Sun. 1/1

  • Sola (grades 6-12): Not meeting Wed. 12/21 or 12/28

  • Kids Connect (infant-grade 6): Not meeting Sun. 1/1

  • Office: Closed Mon. 12/26, Mon. 1/2, and Tue. 1/3

As a reminder, you can always access our full special event calendar at npberean.org/calendar.

Weather cancellations

Winter storm season is back! If we need to close the office or cancel events, we post to Facebook, Twitter, local media, and our web site. If the event is a Sunday large gathering, we also send a text message from 97000 to those with current activity in our database (e.g. ConnectCard, attend a Grow Group, scheduled to serve, etc.). Please contact Becky Hasenauer (308-532-7448 or npberean@npberean.org) with any questions.

Advent 2022

As we approach Christmas, we enter a season called Advent (“Coming”). It’s a time to celebrate God coming in human flesh – Jesus, the Savior! Of course, before coming is waiting…just as God’s people long ago waited for Christ’s first coming, we await His return.

What can their waiting teach us about ours? This Advent, we’ll look back with gratitude and look ahead with anticipation, worshiping the Lord for what He has done and will do.

Visit npberean.org/christmas for an Advent calendar and other resources to support you in waiting and worshipping well this holiday season.
