Serve Saturday, Share Sunday

Quick, how many Churches are in North Platte? Remember – just one – Jesus Christ’s Church! In the recent past we’ve sought to embody this through Good Friday gatherings with New Life, The Rock, and Two Rivers. Now we have an opportunity to partner with another local church.

It is an understatement to say that Berean and Bethel have had an intertwined history. Over decades, many people have moved between the two churches – honestly, sometimes for less than biblical reasons. With the arrival of Bethel’s new pastor (Pastor Geoff), he and Pastor John (and the elder teams of both churches) agree that Bethel and Berean working together is a healthy reality for North Platte and Lincoln County. As a first step we’re planning to partner together on the weekend of July 24/25. Here are the details:

Serve Saturday
Sat. 7/24, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
West of Ace Hardware Parking Lot

Serve Saturday is an opportunity for Berean and Bethel Churches to join together to love our community through serving our city and community non-profits. UPDATE: Instead of meeting at Ace, just move slightly west and join us in front of the former ALCO building at 9a where we’ll sign up for projects, meet our teams, and plan to be on the job sites near 9:30. Bag lunches will be delivered to the work site and all jobs will end at or before 1p. Would you please consider investing a half day to partner with Bethel and serve our community?

Job opportunities will include:

  • The City of North Platte – mulching (please bring rakes, shovels, and wheelbarrows, if you have them!)

  • The Connection – organize pantry and children’s area

  • Deborah’s Legacy – landscaping, painting indoors and outdoors

  • Fresh Start – clean out bus barn (requires heavy lifting)

  • Hope Embraced – mend a fence, painting and cleaning inside

Please note: for these projects, it’s best to have ages middle school and up.

Share Sunday
Sun. 7/25, All Gatherings

In conjunction with Serve Saturday, we’ll be opening a special fund for anyone who would like to give beyond regular offerings. All gifts marked “Share Sunday” will be given to the North Platte Public School District Student Services which exists to serve at-risk students.
