  • Look up “humility” in a dictionary. Which one best fits the kind of humility we see in this story? Why?

  • Today’s sermon encourages us to “be humble.” What is one tangible way you can practice humility this week?

  • Spend some time “reflecting on God’s Preeminence.” Then share your reflections with someone who needs to be remember how incomparable God is.

Connect

  • Discuss ways we may fail to recognize (or accept) our place in comparison to God. Why do we do this?

  • Where do you need to repent of pride? Confess this to another believer and then pray together. (James 5:16)

  • Explore Ephesians 2:1-10 together to prepare for next week’s sermon.

  • Is our natural response to our own or other’s suffering to honestly confront God? Why or why not?

  • Job was honest in his suffering through lament, worship, and acceptance. How does this example both encourage and challenge us?
