Dec. 24 - Prince of Peace (Isa. 9:6-7)
First listen to the sermon (posts Sun. afternoon). Then use the ideas below to help you and your group apply what the Lord is teaching you.

Icebreaker idea: What helps you feel at peace? (Where do you go, what do you do, are you alone or with others, whom are you with, etc.?)

A way to pray: Pray for God's peace (wholeness, flourishing, everything being put right) on Earth. One way to do this could be to take turns praying one line at a time from the Lord's prayer (Matthew 6:9-13), pausing after each line to give time for group members to elaborate on what that aspect of peace might look like in our lives right now.

For discussion:

  • Treasuring God: What is one way I've experienced God's peace?
  • Being Transformed: What's one area of my life where I'd like to experience more of God's peace? What is my next step in this?
  • Loving Others: Who is someone in my life who needs to experience God's peace? What's one way I can help?
  • Pursuing Unity: What's one relationship in my life where I'd love to see God's peace prevail? What is my part to play (a way to pray, an action to take, an apology to offer, forgiveness to choose, etc.)?

Dec. 17 - Everlasting Father (Isa. 9:6-7)
First listen to the sermon (posts Sun. afternoon). Then use the ideas below to help you and your group apply what the Lord is teaching you.

Icebreaker idea: What's one thing that makes a good father?

A way to pray: As we're seeking to see 2,000 people baptized and growing in relationship with Jesus by 2022, let's pray for those who don't yet know His fatherly love.

For discussion:

  • Treasuring God: What is the significance of Jesus being called Everlasting? What about Father?
  • Being Transformed: What does it look like practically to relate to Jesus as Father?
  • Loving Others: What's one way can I share Jesus' fatherly love through my words and actions this week?
  • Pursuing Unity: Hebrews 13:8 says, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." What is one unchanging quality about Jesus that helps me live in harmony with others (especially other believers)?
