Feb. 12 - Overcoming Opposition (Neh. 4)
First listen to the sermon (posts Sun. afternoon). Then use the ideas below to help you and your group apply what the Lord is teaching you. Icebreaker idea: What's one way you've seen God provide for you sometime in the past year? (Can be something big, small, or anywhere in between.)
A way to pray: Based on the first two discussion questions below, pray for each other to overcome (in the right way!) the opposition we're facing. Also, continue praying for our initiative to see 2000 people baptized and connected to Jesus through the Word, prayer, and community by 2022.
For discussion:
- What opposition did the Jews face in Nehemiah 4? What opposition am I facing (or have I faced) in my life?
- What is the right way for God's people to deal with opposition?
- What does it cost me to forgive someone? What are the steps I have to go through, and what role does Jesus' forgiveness play in this process?
- What excites me about the future God has promised his children? How does that affect my response when I encounter opposition?
