Feb. 18 - Who is Guilty?

Romans 2:1-16

Think it out

  • How do you view your own “standing” before God? How does the gospel change a guilty verdict?

  • What is your reaction to Francis Schaeffer’s recorder illustration?

Talk it out

  • In what situations do you find yourself quick to judge? What triggers that reaction?

  • What is going on inside of you when you know the right or true way, yet choose to do the opposite?

Live it out

  • Write a prayer asking God to change an area of your life where your heart is hard or your perspective is skewed.

  • Listen to “Death was Arrested” daily. Celebrate all the ways Jesus has changed your heart.

Feb. 11 - Are You Exchanging?

Romans 1:18-32

Think it out

  • What has been your understanding of God’s wrath? Watch this helpful video on how God is slow to anger.

  • Watch this video clip. How does cosmic grandeur make God evident to all humanity?

Talk it out

  • What can cloud a right understanding of God’s wrath?

  • Consider this C.S. Lewis quote. Why do we exchange “infinite joy” for lesser things? How are we too “easily pleased?”

Live it out

  • Write down at least one way you have exchanged truth for lies. Pray daily for God’s help to choose truth instead.

  • Listen to “Firm Foundation” daily. Each time ask, “Am I living out this truth today?”

Jan. 28 - Who is Lord?

Romans 1:1-7

Think it out

  • How is Paul’s letter to the Romans different from his other letters? Why does this matter?

  • For further study as we begin Romans, explore this Romans overview video. Also, consider this “LORD” word study video.

Talk it out

  • What steps of faith and obedience will you take this week to make Jesus your LORD?

  • What area of life do you struggle to allow God to control (make him LORD)?

Live it out

  • Pray and ask the Lord what “obedience of faith”(v.5) step you need to take this week, then do it!

  • As you listen to “Cornerstone” daily this week, ask, “how does my life evidence this today?”

Jan. 21 - Give Us Awareness

Ephesians 1:15-23

Think it out

  • How does knowing Christ’s hope, riches, and power are mine, change me?

  • For further study of the book: Ephesians overview video or in-depth video study of Ephesians.

Talk it out

  • Have you experienced the richness of Christ in community? If so, how? If not, what is holding you back?

  • How can this prayer give us confidence to take the gospel into our homes? Our jobs? Against temptation?

Live it out

  • Put “Holy Forever” on repeat this week. Each time you listen, consider, “Do I believe this for myself?”

  • Reread these prayers: for Healing (James 5:13-18), Boldness (Acts 4:23-31), Love (Phil. 1:9-11), Wisdom (Eph. 1:15-23). Commit to daily praying the one that is most meaningful.
