Mar. 19 - Right Sorrow (Mat. 26:69-27:5)

First listen to the sermon (posts Sun. afternoon). Then use the ideas below to help you and your group apply what the Lord is teaching you. Icebreaker idea: What's one way God has blessed you recently?

A way to pray: Ask God to help us really believe that Jesus has paid for our betrayal and that nothing (including our failures) can separate us from his love. Pray that this amazing truth will lead us to repent, to walk with him in joy, and to share this good news with others, as we seek to see 2000 people baptized and connected to Jesus through the Word, prayer, and community by 2022.

For discussion:

  • How are Peter and Judas alike? different?
  • In what ways have I been like Peter or Judas?
  • If God truly is the greatest treasure in my life, how does this change things practically? For example, what would it mean for how I respond when I'm hurt, how I deal with disappointment, or how I treat my family, friends, or coworkers?
  • What are some specific things that help me keep God in focus as my greatest treasure? How can I seek to experience those things regularly, and how can others help?
