Weekly Prayer Groups

There is great power in praying together…

Benefits of praying together:

  • Collectively more prayers are prayed.  We each have a unique way of praying.  Together our prayers bring new voices to the need.
  • It gives us a deep feeling of belonging to a group where we are a necessary part of a greater purpose.
  • Our spirits are lifted and we are comforted when we cry out for others and feel their love for us as they lift up our concerns to God.
  • Our hearts are opened to the needs of others and we feel God’s presence more strongly when praying with others.

Guidelines for effective prayer groups:

  • Meet at the same time every week.  Make this an important routine that you protect in your schedule.
  • Begin on time and end on time.
  • Take turns praying.  Avoid long monologues.
  • Let the Spirit direct your prayers rather than reading prepared prayers.

“Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three have gathered in My name, I am there in their midst.”   Matthew 18:19-20
